Questions

Where does the model value come from?

From valuation models run on the company's own filed statements — discounted cash flow, trading multiples, PEG, earnings power and dividend discount, plus a justified price-to-tangible-book for banks, price-to-book for insurers and price-to-Cash-FFO for REITs. The headline is one model: a bank's, insurer's or REIT's own yardstick, and for everyone else the five-year discounted cash flow — or, where the business has an operating loss or three years of negative free cash flow, the peers' P/E, then EV/EBITDA, then EV/Revenue. Every other model's result is listed beside it, and each has its own page with every input.

Does undervalued mean I should buy it?

No. Undervalued or overvalued here says where the price sits against the models on a given day, and by how much: it is a statement about the model, not a call, a grade or a forecast, and the site does not issue any of those. The model's own range sits beside the number, and the other models are listed under it.

How often do the numbers update?

Prices and the valuation recompute nightly; filings are picked up as they land on SEC EDGAR; statements refresh when a new quarter is filed. Every page shows the date its data was taken.

Which companies are covered?

Two pools, taken as they are: the 500 large US companies in the most widely tracked US index fund, and the 100 largest non-financial Nasdaq listings the biggest technology fund tracks. 518 companies in all; where a company sits in both pools it appears once. Banks, insurers and REITs come with the 500 and are valued on their own yardsticks — tangible book, book value, funds from operations — and the bank and REIT boards under Tools go further.

The gap is price ÷ model value − 1: undervalued by that much when the price is below the model, overvalued when above. The range column shows how far apart the models behind the median are. It describes two numbers and is not investment advice.
