About SweetValueLab

Last updated

SweetValueLab is a set of free, deterministic equity-research tools that compute from primary data instead of summarizing opinions. No paywall, no language model behind any number, and nothing to read here needs an account — the optional one is for writing a guest post or issuing an API token.

Who runs it

SweetValueLab is built and operated independently by , a software engineer who wrote the models, the filing parsers and the site's own posts on the blog; a guest post carries its own author's byline. There is no company behind it, no outside funding, and no sales team. Every model, every input and every known limitation is written out in full in how we value a stock and where the numbers come from, so you can check how a number is produced before you rely on it.

Where the data comes from

  • Financial Modeling Prep — the three financial statements, daily split-adjusted prices, dividend history, company profiles, analyst estimates.
  • SEC EDGAR — filings read directly from the source: 13F holdings, 13D/G ownership, 8-K events, Form 4 insider transactions.

Filing data is stored point-in-time: a fact is recorded with the moment it became public, not the moment we fetched it, so a historical view shows what was actually knowable then.

How the tools work

The public tools are deterministic. Every figure on the tools and on the stock and investor pages — a price, a dividend, a model value, a backtest return — is computed by code from the source data, the same inputs always produce the same numbers, and each tool states its method on its own page. The site runs no language model at all, so none of those numbers is written by one.

What this is not

It is not a broker, not a registered investment adviser, and not a source of personalized advice. Backtests are hypothetical: they exclude taxes, commissions and slippage, and past results say nothing about the future. Data comes from third parties and can be wrong or delayed. Decide for yourself, and verify anything that matters before acting on it.
