How this list is measured
Consecutive calendar years, up to last year, in which the average regular dividend per payment was higher than the year before. Special dividends are left out, and so is a payment far above the rest of its year, which is usually a data error. Counted from the dividend history this site holds, which starts in 1970; a streak that reaches back that far is shown with a plus, and a few early gaps can make a streak read shorter than the company's own count. Drawn from the 515 large US companies this site covers, and rebuilt every night.
